​The railroad viaduct in Gumpoldskirchen is a magical gateway to a world rich in history. On passing through it, you arrive at Freigut Thallern, the second oldest wine estate in Austria.

In the midst of idyllic vineyards, the three state-of-the-art seminar rooms provide an optimum setting for a seminar or conference. The rooms can be individually arranged to handle parties of up to 100. After the day’s work is done, it is time for pleasure. At the in-house wine bar, you can sample fine wines from the Thermenregion with trained sommeliers. Klostergasthaus Thallern is a wonderful restaurant for enjoying the superb regional cuisine. This cozy vineyard hotel is the ideal place to end an eventful day. Its 17 rooms and 2 suites invite guests to enjoy and relax.

  • A peak behind the scenes: Listen to our tour guides’ tales and explore the second oldest wine estate in Austria. Visit the 14th century St. John’s Chapel. View the old barrel cellar and the lovely prelacy. During a wine  tasting session you learn about the diversity of the regional wines and find out why the Rotgipfler is actually a white wine despite its name.
  • Explore the surrounding area by bike or  e-bike: A number of well-marked cycling routes begin right outside our front gate. You can pedal up our landmark hill,  the Anninger. From there you have  a splendid view of the Thermenregion, named for its thermal springs. Then we  recommend that you take in a wine tasting session at our regional wine bar.
