Benediktinerstift Göttweig

Enjoyment of wine since 1083

As one of the oldest wineries of Austria the winery of Abbey Goettweig can be labeled quite rightly as rich in tradition. The historical roots can be traced back to the year 1083, whereby vineyards already appear in the foundation charter of the Monastery.

The soil of Goettweig Mountain is diverse. It ranges from loam and loess to Hollenburger conglomerate, calcareous soil and to prehistoric rocks of withered slate. The variety of sorts can be enjoyed during a wine tasting.
